Historically, black type marked the greats, the names worthy of remembrance.

In the equestrian world, black type refers to a horse whose achievements were significant enough to be permanently recorded in breeding and competition records. Their names were printed in bold, or "black type," distinguishing them from the rest and preserving their accomplishments for future generations.

That idea became the foundation of this brand.

Rooted in equestrian tradition and inspired by the New England coast, The Black Type is dedicated to honoring the names worth remembering, from champion horses to the quiet heroes who save, take care of, and love on them endlessly. We believe greatness is found everywhere. 

Through artist collaborations, charitable partnerships, and thoughtfully designed collections, our goal is to honor the stories that deserve to be remembered.
